Bio
Tension is impressionable. Constantly searching for its balance point, while bound to the laws of physics, tension holds its own dynamic existence in space. The shown installations are a test of endurance and open the door for the uncontrollable risk of failure, the potential of falling through space or losing its tension. A release of energy can be simultaneously disturbing and comforting, depending on the viewer’s perception and own internal tension.

"Kempinas has an unusual ability to derive the maximum effects from the slightest of means."
The exhibition Who Runs The Space Now? explores the progression from tension to risk, from the tipping point to the inevitable stage of falling. Five international artists intervene with the polarities of maintaining tension and then losing it, which reveals the exciting kinetic potential of objects.
"To put things simply: Olivier's work is excellent to behold, and it also provides lasting insight and assistance."

Beyond the Exhibition
Daily life, observations and visual experiences of curating, mounting an exhibition in Mexico City are combined in a short movie, which goes way beyond the exhibition.
As it includes a lot of private photo and video material by artists, we would like to restrict it to interested viewers.

"The tension that is caused by the slight curve of the material dominates the physical presence of the object. "
